Lazy Saturday

Since Jonathan and my mom are at work and Abby is at Cedar Point, I had no one to play with today.  So when I came across this recipe for Monster Cookies, I decided to make them because I was bored out of my mind.  The fun thing about these cookies is that you can pretty much put whatever tickles your fancy into them.  She uses Reese’s Pieces and M&Ms in hers, but I decided to put shredded coconut and walnuts in mine instead.  They’re pretty tasty!

I know, the lighting in my kitchen is really yucky.  But here’s the batter!  I think I ate about half of it :)

I think I took the word “monster” too literally…the first tray of cookies was ginormous!  The rest of the cookies were about half this size.

While I was at Meijer I picked up some more yarn for my granny square blanket {I’m up to 10 squares now!}.  Lily brand Sugar ‘n Cream yarn is definitely my new obsession!  It comes in so many pretty colors.  Here’s my collection so far:

That handsome boy is my other kitty, Sidney.  He’ll be 12 in October…he’s an old man!

What would you put in your monster cookie?  Are you obsessing over anything right now?

Granny Square Update

Well, I did it!  I made my first granny square.

Not bad for my first try, right?  They’re fun to make, plus I get to watch tv while I make them :)

Granny Squares Aren’t Just for Old Ladies!

I was browsing Pinterest today when I came across this tutorial for popcorn granny squares.  Cute, right?  So I figured that since I’ve got a ton of time on my hands before I go back to school I should definitely give it a shot!

Lots of pretty new yarn!

I’ve also been coming across a ton of amigurumi patterns.  Maybe my next project will be to make some kind of amigurumi softy…

I am in love with these amigurumi fish bones!  You can buy the pattern for these cuties here.  Maybe I’ll make one and fill it with catnip for my kitties :)

What are you working on right now?  Do you have any tips for me as I attempt my very first granny square?
