It’s finally summer, which means that I now have time to craft and blog! Yay!
I was invited to my boyfriend’s sister-in-law’s baby shower this weekend, which is a little scary since I’ll be meeting most of his family without him. Unfortunately, I’m on an incredibly tight budget but I still wanted to give Hilary something cute and unique. So I went to Pinterest and found this easy-to-follow tutorial for a crocheted pacifier clip.
Picture from the tutorial
Don’t mind the crappy iPhone picture…they’re much cuter in person, I promise!
For the center of the flower I used gemstone buttons. I wasn’t sure how they’d look especially since I really like the way that the covered buttons look in the tutorial, but they ended up looking cute. I found the suspender clips at JoAnn’s, too, after going to literally every other craft store in the area. I should have just gone to JoAnn’s first…that place never lets me down!
I’m really happy with the way they turned out, especially since I haven’t crocheted at all since last summer. Each pacifier clip only took about 10-15 minutes to make and I think they’re a really adorable baby shower gift idea for anyone who doesn’t have much money to spend.
Everyone at the baby shower LOVED the pacifier clips and I got tons of compliments on them!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a great new year!
I got the Hunger Games trilogy for Christmas (and have already read the first two books) and I have a lot of books piling up that I want to read. So I decided to set a reading goal for 2012; I figured that it’s one resolution that I’ll be able to keep! I put a widget on my page so that my readers can see what I’m reading and follow my progress.
If you’re a bookworm like me I encourage you to set a reading goal for the new year, too! If you have a Goodreads.com account please add me as a friend–I would love to see what you’re reading :)

6.) Current outfit: Zippie and sweatpants :) It’s almost bedtime!
7.) Are you dressing up for Halloween this year? Yes! I’m going as the Corpse Bride.
8.) What is your natural hair texture/style? It’s light brown and wavy. Nothing special.
9.) Where would your dream honeymoon be? (or if you’ve had it, where was it?) A Disney Cruise! I’m planning on having a Disney Wedding :)

I can’t believe it’s the middle of the semester already! I also can’t believe it’s supposed to be 80 degrees tomorrow, but I’ve lived in the midwest for 20 years so I shouldn’t be surprised. Next week is fall break so hopefully I’ll have lots of time to be crafty. I have lots of fun ideas that I can’t wait to try and next week will be the perfect time to get creative.
Many people would be surprised to know that a Social Work major is extremely time consuming. I feel like all I’m doing lately is writing papers. I have a 40 page case study paper due at the end of November and every time I think about it I want to curl up into a ball and cry.
Yesterday I picked up Ellen DeGeneres’ new book, Seriously…I’m Kidding. It’s a quick read (I’m already halfway done with it) really hilarious.
I hope everyone’s having a happy fall season :)

Well I’ve been back at school, busy getting organized and training for my job! I’m going to try to put pictures of my room up soon, but I’ll probably wait until after Annie moves in on Thursday…
In the meantime, enjoy this YouTube video! Just a warning, the song WILL get stuck in your head…for days :)

Yesterday I decided to try amigurumi. I found this adorable friendly monster pattern and figured that it looked doable. I was wrong.
Okay, this is what it’s supposed to look like…
Hahaha! It looks like a deformed glove. What the heck did I do wrong? If there are any amigurumi experts out there reading this, could you help me out?
I downloaded The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Amigurumi onto my Nook this afternoon so maybe I’ll get the hang of it soon. I really hope so, because I have so much cute yarn and a bag of buttons that are just begging to be turned into something cute and cuddly!

Jonathan and I went to the St. Joe river to feed the ducks today. They were hungry little guys!
The geese came running when they saw us with the bread! I can’t say I blame them…who doesn’t love Jimmy Johns bread?!
These geese were not the smartest…half of them went into the water because that’s where we were throwing the bread, and the other half stayed on land, looking confused.
The ducks were starving…I guess we’re the only ones who feed them!
There were also a ton of seagulls lurking around. Jonathan would throw pieces of bread into the air and the gulls would catch it in their beaks. They were like ugly flying miniature dogs…it was hilarious.
What did you do today?

Well, I did it! I made my first granny square.
Not bad for my first try, right? They’re fun to make, plus I get to watch tv while I make them :)

I was browsing Pinterest today when I came across this tutorial for popcorn granny squares. Cute, right? So I figured that since I’ve got a ton of time on my hands before I go back to school I should definitely give it a shot!
Lots of pretty new yarn!
I’ve also been coming across a ton of amigurumi patterns. Maybe my next project will be to make some kind of amigurumi softy…
I am in love with these amigurumi fish bones! You can buy the pattern for these cuties here. Maybe I’ll make one and fill it with catnip for my kitties :)
What are you working on right now? Do you have any tips for me as I attempt my very first granny square?
